Faith Before Fear: How Christ’s Atonement Transforms Our Hardest Seasons

During the recent Wake Forest Community Conference for Christ (Stake Conference) Stake Relief Society President Alli Glorious shared the following testimony of Jesus Christ. We reprint it here with her permission that you maybe inspired by her words of faith and hope.

I have a firm testimony of the Gospel of Jesus Christ.

I know that Jesus Christ lives. He is my brother and while I am married to Superman, Jesus, my Savior is the ultimate Superhero.

I would like to add my witness to the reality of His matchless Life and infinite virtue of His great atoning sacrifice.  It is because of that sacrifice that I have the blessing to live a joyful faith-filled life.

Through my daily choices to follow and trust Christ, I’ve learned truths and had spiritual experiences that have led me to deeper and stronger faith.

A few years ago, when several chapters of my life started to shift all at once, I struggled to find balance.  Satan knew my weakness, and pulled me to a state of idleness. I wanted to progress in some personal goals but I was stuck. I was angry, confused and embarrassed that I couldn’t push through it, even with daily pleading to my Father in Heaven for help.

I’m an introvert who loves people. God knows this and he often uses these innate characteristics to gently lead and guide me.

It was during that time that I was called to go and lead our church’s Women’s Support Group and literally help women who are feeling angry, confused and embarrassed about the hardships, trials and circumstances facing them in their lives. While I struggled with feeling of inadequacy, I’ve learned through experience, that assignments and callings give me opportunities to place faith before fear.

The calling to be a missionary- to wear His name on my chest, and in my heart each day- to testify of His gospel things I know to be true, was a tender mercy.

I was reminded week after week that I am a beloved child of God, and He is in the details of our lives. I was given tools to help me place my burdens at His feet. I heard testimony of others that helped kindle mine- His grace is sufficient and He can turn beauty for ashes.  I have a testimony that His atonement can take our broken lives and restore and transform them.

Elder David A. Bednar counseled, “As you and I come to understand and employ the enabling power of the Atonement in our personal lives, we will pray and seek for Strength to change our circumstances rather than praying for our circumstances to be changed. We will become agents who act rather than objects that are acted upon.”

I know this to be true.  I invite you with the faith you have today to take your burdens to your Heavenly Father, trust in the atoning sacrifice that our Savior has made for us.  Test it, lean upon it, utilize the power that can come through it to heal you, in whatever burdens you’re facing.

I leave this testimony with you in His sacred name- Jesus Christ. Amen
