Elder Dube Encourages Youth and Young Adults to Find Joy and Create a Vision

This past Saturday, February 21st, our stake was blessed to host devotionals for both the youth and young adults with Elder Edward Dube. of the Presidency of the Seventy His messages centered on joy, vision, and daily discipleship.

Youth Devotional

During the afternoon youth devotional, the youth had the opportunity to submit questions, which Elder Dube thoughtfully answered. He encouraged them to find true joy in the scriptures—especially through daily study of the Book of Mormon. He invited them not only to read, but to truly study, feast upon, and ponder the word of God, referencing 2 Nephi 32:3 and 1 Nephi 11:1.

Elder Dube testified of the gift of the Holy Ghost and reminded the youth that as we remain faithful, the Spirit can abide with us forever. He taught that the best way to resist temptation is to decide now—to make righteous decisions in advance rather than waiting for moments of pressure.

A powerful invitation was extended to each young person: write a personal vision of what they want to accomplish in life and who they want to become. Having a clear, gospel-centered vision helps guide daily choices.

Young Adult Devotional

In the evening devotional for young adults, Elder Dube focused on the eternal purpose of life—to have joy. He referenced John 15:10–11, Alma 26:10–11, and Hebrews 12:1–2, teaching that joy is found in keeping the commandments and looking to Jesus Christ.

He shared a statement from  Pres. Dallin H. Oaks: “Joy is more than happiness. Joy is the ultimate sensation of well-being. It comes from being complete and in harmony with our Creator and his eternal laws."This deeper joy comes through covenant living and enduring faith.

Drawing from Doctrine and Covenants 6:36–37, Elder Dube encouraged young adults to “look unto [Christ] in every thought” and not doubt or fear. He invited them to write a vision of what they want their life to look like in ten years. Who are they becoming? What kind of disciple will they be?

He emphasized that joy increases as we focus on others. Jesus Christ joyfully performed the Atonement for us, and we follow Him when we serve and lift those around us. Once again, he encouraged daily scripture study—especially in the Book of Mormon—as a foundation for lasting joy.

Both devotionals left attendees uplifted and motivated to be more intentional in their discipleship. As we choose now to follow Christ, seek the companionship of the Holy Ghost, and develop a clear vision for our lives, we can experience the lasting joy the Lord promises.
