Living with Vision: What We Learned from Elder Dube

This past Saturday, February 21st, we were blessed to gather together for a special youth devotional with Edward Dube of the Presidency of the Seventy. It was an incredible experience to hear from him and feel his love and encouragement for each of us. He spoke about joy, having a clear vision for our lives, and what it really means to live as a disciple of Jesus Christ every day.

Youth Devotional Highlights

During the afternoon devotional, you had the opportunity to submit questions, and Elder Dube took time to thoughtfully answer them. He invited you to find real joy in the scriptures—especially through daily study of the Book of Mormon. He encouraged you not to just read a few verses and move on, but to truly study, feast upon, and ponder the word of God, as taught in 2 Nephi 32:3 and 1 Nephi 11:1.

He bore powerful testimony of the gift of the Holy Ghost. He reminded you that as you choose to stay faithful, the Spirit can be your constant companion. That gift is real, personal, and available to you.

One of the most practical pieces of counsel he shared was about temptation. He taught that the best way to resist temptation is to decide now. Make righteous decisions ahead of time—before you’re in the middle of pressure or hard situations. When you’ve already decided who you are and what you stand for, it becomes much easier to stay strong.

He also extended a powerful invitation: write down a personal vision for your life. Think about what you want to accomplish and, even more importantly, who you want to become. When you have a clear, gospel-centered vision, it helps guide your daily choices and keeps you focused on what matters most.

It was a meaningful day, and the invitations shared were simple but powerful: study the scriptures deeply, rely on the Holy Ghost, decide now to choose the right, and create a vision for your future.
