Welcoming the Henderson 2nd Branch and Leadership

On Sunday, September 6, 2026, the Henderson 2nd Branch (Spanish) officially met for the first time! It was a joyful milestone that has been years in the making for Spanish-speaking members in the northern part of the Wake Forest Stake of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

Leadership for the branch include Juan Carlos Quino as Branch President, Patrick Bowman serving as first counselor, Jose Luis Ventura as second counselor, and Yamilet Cadena as Relief Society President.

Spanish-speaking members have been attending the Henderson Ward for more than 20 years with numbers ebbing and flowing. The number of Spanish-speaking members began to stabilize and gradually grow starting five years ago. And then last year, Spanish-speaking missionaries were called to the area, bringing additional opportunities for individuals and families to learn about and come unto Jesus Christ.

In January 2026, a Spanish-speaking group was organized with members from the Creedmoor and Henderson areas. For the first time, members could participate in Spanish-language Sunday School, Elders Quorum, and Relief Society classes. This opened up opportunities to more fully participate in the gospel that had previously been difficult due to the language barrier.

The formation of the Henderson 2nd Branch was officially announced in August 2026. While the division of a congregation can sometimes represent people going in different directions, in this case it is a joyful sign of growth. More individuals and families are coming unto Christ, renewing covenants weekly, and keeping God’s commandments. As prophesied, more are able to “hear the fulness of the gospel in [their] own tongue, and in [their] own language” (Doctrine and Covenants 90:11).

The new branch reflects the growth of Spanish-speaking members in the area as more people come to Christ together through worship, service, and learning in their own language. All are welcome! Bienvenidos!
