Sunday School Leadership Update Reflects Continuing Revelation
The First Presidency of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints recently announced an important update regarding Sunday School leadership. Effective immediately, Sunday School presidencies may now be composed entirely of either men or women.
While the purpose and responsibilities of the Sunday School presidency remain unchanged, this update provides bishops with additional flexibility as they prayerfully seek inspiration to strengthen gospel instruction within their congregations.
“This Church is a church of continuing revelation, and this change highlights that principle,” said Jason Call, Wake Forest Stake Sunday School President. “There are remarkable sisters whose contributions to gospel teaching will bless their units in meaningful ways. The Lord continues to guide His work and invites all who seek Him to grow closer through inspired instruction.”
The charge of the Sunday School presidency continues to be to strengthen gospel teaching and foster spiritual growth among members. This adjustment expands opportunities to fulfill that mission and reflects the Lord’s ongoing guidance in directing His Church.
As local leaders counsel together and seek inspiration, this update opens new possibilities to enhance teaching, learning, and conversion throughout the stake.
