Stake Members Share Christ’s Light in Youngsville and Franklinton Parades

This past weekend, members of the Wake Forest Stake of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints participated in two local parades in Youngsville and Franklinton. Members enjoyed riding on the Light the World float and waving to spectators along the route.

“It was great being out with the community and a wonderful way to share His light,” said President Will Thornton. “We loved the cheer from the crowd when the name of the Church came across the loudspeaker.”

Stake members had been working on building the float for the past two months. The centerpiece was a large white nativity surrounded by lights and banners representing the Light the World initiative.

“Participating in the Christmas parades is something I will never forget. Declaring my faith and testimony of the Savior publicly with my children was effortless, easy, and natural. The joy we felt as we rode or walked was real, and it was exciting to see that the communities welcomed us and shared the holiday spirit along with us, said Nikki Yorgeson. “We had opportunities to connect with spectators, invite our non-member friends to join us, and present the Church in a positive light. I hope that my family gets to continue in this new tradition for years and years to come!”
