Elder Gérald Caussé Called as a Member of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles

On Thursday, November 6, 2025, Elder Gérald Caussé was sustained and ordained as a member of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. President Dallin H. Oaks and other Apostles officiated the ordination.

Elder Caussé shared, “I’ve always had a testimony of Jesus Christ… I know He’s our Savior and Redeemer. What a wonderful thing it is to be a witness of Christ.”

A native of Bordeaux, France (born May 20, 1963), Elder Caussé served as Presiding Bishop of the Church for the past 11 years—a role that involved oversight of welfare programs, humanitarian efforts, and Church facilities worldwide. He is the third Presiding Bishop born outside the United States and the first for whom English is a second language.

In earlier service, he was a General Authority Seventy (2008–2012) and later a counselor in the Presiding Bishopric (2012–2015). Elder Caussé and his wife, Valérie, were married in 1986 in the Bern Switzerland Temple and are the parents of five children.

Please join in welcoming Elder Caussé in his new calling and in offering prayers for his service and the ongoing mission of the Church.
