Serving Through Action on Martin Luther King Jr. Day
Martin Luther King Jr. Day is more than a time to reflect on an inspiring leader—it is a call to serve. As the only federal holiday designated as a National Day of Service, it invites individuals and communities to turn remembrance into meaningful action.
This year, the Wake Forest Stake, along with other local stakes, answered that call by participating in the Dream Big Book Drive, hosted by Book Harvest in Durham, North Carolina. Collection boxes were placed in each building, and members united around a shared goal: supporting literacy for children and families in our community.
Through this collective effort, an impressive 1,465 books were gathered and donated on January 19, helping extend educational opportunities to those who need them most.
We extend special recognition to the Zebulon building, which collected the highest number of books during the drive. Your dedication is a wonderful example of Christlike service—well done, Zebulon!
Dr. King taught that true greatness is found in serving others, a principle that mirrors the Savior’s example of love, compassion, and action. We are grateful for all who participated and helped turn this day of remembrance into a day of impact.
